Sälen

So we are now back to our normal life after a few days in Sälen. Sälen is beautiful and much bigger than I expected. We got through three out of four of the different parts of it, and probably didn't get through more than a tenth of all the slopes.

The first day we did a few runs with Geoff and Sandra, then we checked in and had dinner in our flat. It was a very nice little flat with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a front room and an open fire place.

The second day Geoff hurt his hamstring falling over and as we were stuck on a part they couldn't get down they were carried off the mountain on snow scooters. James and his parents went to have a sauna and a jacuzzi whilst I relaxed, and in the evening we ordered pizza.

On the day of new year's eve Geoff was unable to ski so Sandra did one run with me and James. She did very well and didn't fall over once but was worn out after three days off skiing. The rest of the day me and James spent skiing over to the next resort and trying out their slopes.

In the evening James made us a New Year's dinner which was just gorgeous!

Then we went to a bar to watch a live band and have a few drinks. Geoff wasn't feeling well so I took him back to the flat, and then me James and Sandra spent the first few minutes of 2012 watching the fireworks before we headed back to the flat.

On the last day we had a lie in, then James and I hit the slopes. It has snowed lots in the night, and there was hardly anyone in the slopes so we got a few good runs before it was time to pack up and check out.

The drive back took forever due to the snow, and when we finally got home we ordered a take away as no one felt like cooking. My parents popped around for a few hours to hear all about our trip, and then we fell asleep, knackered after four days of skiing and the long drive.

A proper winter holiday, I really enjoyed spending time with James and my in laws in beautiful Sälen!

Yeah, this is actually the best picture of me from Sälen. Haha!

Back to Reality

Back at work today after some lovely days off (I will post some pictures from Sälen tonight). Yesterday we just relaxed the whole day, got up late and had a big breakfast.

I love a big breakfast - yoghurt, toast, freshly made bread (ready bake), scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, juice, tea....! If you could call it a meal that would be my favorite one!!

Then we watched a film and relaxed before James took his parents to the airport. Just before they left James' sister called to tell them that their house had been burgled, nice welcome home present! Luckily it seemed like they hadn't managed to take anything as the alarm went off.

The rest of the day we sat in front of the telly, I made a yummy pasta dish and then we went to bed early. I am so glad I treated myself to that extra day off as you need your rest after four days of skiing!!

Day 2

I wish I could post some pictures but I'll have to do that when we get home. Today we got up quite early, had breakfast and then went to another part of the skiing resort. We wanted to find at place wi more green slopes for James parents. Well that didn't go too well.

We got there and decided to go to the top and then do a long easy run down that goes around the mountain. We got quite far down, but then we got to a bit that was a bit too steep for them. We were just trying saying to James' mum that she should slide down on her bum when Geoff fell over and pulled a muscle in his leg.
So we had to call for a couple of skidoos to come and take them down, and me and James raced them down the mountain!

So the first run of the day ended with a bit of an adventure. I will post pictures of this when I get home. Geoff said it was worth it though as they were saved by some ninteen year old Swedish girl who looked after them. We took them back to the flat for a rest and then went off and did some more skiing until my legs ached.

Now James and his parents have gone of for a jacuzzi and I am relaxing for a bit. Skiing wears you out, all the fresh air and exercise makes you tired but it also makes you feel really good!

Now I am going to go and read my book for a bit, I will update again tomorrow and we now have Internet in the flat.
