Yesterday Linda and I went to the stables together, as she was riding the young colt called Balthazar whom she is training. He is only three years old and had never been ridden before she got him. She is now keeping him until the end of summer before she returns him to her uncle who owns him.
To get my legs in the right position we tried tying the stirrups back with a string attached to the girth. It felt so strange, like my legs were folded backwards, but after a while I realised that it actually gave me a better balance and Corvette responded better to my aids...
Linda also let me ride Balthazar for a bit, which was so cool! He is so unspoilt, having only been ridden for a few weeks. I was scared to even move at first, didn't want to ruin him. Linda rode Corvette for a bit for the first time in a while, as she has been focusing on Balthazar.
She was literally glowing when she sat up on Corvette, she looked like people who have just fallen in love tend to look. "Oh Corvette, my horse" she kept saying, and raced around doing a few jumps with a big grin on her face. Oh the love between a human and a horse is beautiful.
