Saturday

On Saturday we had decided to finally finish the last bits in our kitchen. Off we went to IKEA, where we stocked up on curtains, flower pots and other bits and pieces to add the last touch to the room.

In the car on the way back from IKEA I suddenly got really tired, and when we got home I fell asleep for two hours whilst James painted one wall and wallpapered the other. This dark time of the year is just horrible. You never see the sun, so no wonder your body thinks it should be sleeping all the time.

When I woke up we hung the curtains, red and black ones in one window and white ones in the other. We didn't finish until late late but it was worth it. It looks so lovely and homely.

Our new curtains and Christmas decorations

We still have a few things to sort out, and we had decided to go all in next weekend as well to finish it off. I am loving our kitchen more and more.

Spice Things Up

I really want to do something fun with our house, add a bit of colour and get something new. I don't want to redecorate just now, just spice things up a bit.

Our kitchen is lovely but quite empty, we need to get curtains and maybe put up a shelf. Get some flowers and put pictures on the walls. A clock. Get a bit of life in there. The reason why I haven't put any pictures up of the kitchen yet is that we still have some work to do to it. As soon as we're done I will put some before and after pictures up.

We were given so many great things as wedding presents, among them some vouchers at IKEA, so maybe we could make a trip there in the weekend!

Knackered

Last week we got lots done in the kitchen, we followed our schedule every day until Saturday. That's when I realised I was knackered!

In the end we decided to take a day off from the kitchen, and just rested all day.

Yesterday I went riding and then to my parent's for mother's day whilst James finished off some bits in the kitchen. It's basically finished now, just some little bits left now until we can start using it properly!

To Do List

The other day me and James met for lunch and made a To Do List for what's left to do in the kitchen.
This week we have planned a few things every day, and by the end of it the kitchen should be more or less finished!

There are only "little" things left to do, but quite a lot of them. It feel much better to have a plan though, we are going to do the same thing with our wedding plans!

This Kitchen is Killing Us

Working in the kitchen all day today. It's driving us mad, nothing makes sense and nothing is easy. Trying to fit a dishwasher, a fridge and an oven is not easy. Gaah!

I can't wait until we're finished!

Tomorrow Twiggie is coming over to take pictures of the kittens. They are doing great and have all opened their eyes, adorable! Then I am riding.

HobNob

Oh my god, our new hob is amazing!

My parents came around the other night, and we all stood around it and watched as we did the first bit of "cooking" on it. This cooking just entailed boiling a bit of water, but I tell ya...
The water started to boil within 5 seconds, and when you turned the hob off it instantly cooled down, you could put your hand on the hot plate after 2 seconds! Fantastic!
Reminds me of the gas cooker we had when I was an au pair, but much more modern.

It also has a timer on it. If you are boiling potatoes for example it will automatically turn off after 20 minutes. Wow!!

I will end this excited rant with a random thought:

Shouldn't the knob that you use for your hob be called a hobnob?

Cleaning is Boring!

On Saturday I bought an hour of Gabriella's time and she helped me tidy up our messy house. Or as she said "your house is a catastrophe!"

Well, that's what happens when you are redoing a whole kitchen, all the kitchen stuff needs to go somewhere else. Anyway, she did a great job helping me, and our house is now much tidier.

Today she electrician is doing his last bits, then we can start moving into our new kitchen!!!!

Oh I Nearly Forgot, the Wedding!

Yesterday Nikki and her mum asked me if I am not getting nervous as there is only 7 weeks to go to the big day.

To be honest, no not at all. We have not had time to be nervous. We have not been counting down to the wedding as much as to when the kitchen is finished and when the kittens arrive.

Now the kittens are here, and the kitchen is coming along! My parents came over in the weekend and James and my dad plugged in the water. So we are really getting there, we are just waiting for the electrician to finish his job. It looks great!

I think when that is all finished, that is when we start to stress about the wedding!

Give Us a Couple of Weeks and We're There!

This weekend we have finished wallpapering our kitchen.

The only thing left now is putting up the tiles, and then wait for the electrician to plug everything in. Then we are done!!

I must say it looks amazing, I love it! James has done a fantastic job, and I am so proud of him!

Well I have helped too, but this is his baby.

I will put some pictures up of the end result.

Wallpaper

Yesterday we worked hard all day! Not in the kitchen exactly, but we got a lot done.

We went to the tip with four full loads of rubbish from the old kitchen. Then we went to IKEA to buy a tap, as that was somehow missed off of our order. There is a new IKEA in Västerås, it's massive!

Then we went and got some wallpaper. We will have white wallpaper with a feature wall in a greyish colour.

Then we bought some soil and seeds as the grass where all the rubbish had been was ruined. After planting it it was 8pm and we were knackered!

Today we are going to celebrate Easter at Annika's.

Happy Easter!

What a day!

What a great day I've had!

Corvette

Brilliant time riding Corvette in the sunshine, then met up with Alina for a run. We now did 5K instead of 3K that we've done before, she is doing so well!

Me & Alina

Then I went to my parent's for some lunch and karaoke with Gabriella.

Then I came home to a kitchen that has come such a long way you can really picture the end result.

 Happy Sunday!

With a little help

Today James' work colleagues are coming over to help him put up the kitchen!

We prepared the last bits yesterday, James has pre-built all the cupboards so we carried them up from downstairs.

I am going riding and then to see Alina for a run, with three guys working there I will only be in the way.

I am very excited to see what it will look like when I get back!

Kitchen

We have spent the whole day working on the kitchen and cleaning the house. I am so fed up with it but we are truly making progress.

I knocked over a bucket of water when I was mopping the floor. What a pain!

Tomorrow the cupboards are going up! It's all coming together. This is going to be good.

Out with the old, in with the new

Last week my parents popped by and helped us get rid of the massive pile of old kitchen and walls in our garden.

There is still lots more to take to the tip, but we have to do a bit at the time.

This pile is now nearly gone. Thanks for your help!

It's so exciting, the floor is completed, the skirting looks great, and in the weekend the actual kitchen is going up!

Well done to James who has worked an endless amount of hours making everything look amazing!
I am so proud of my handyman.

Stress

Having a wedding to plan, a kitchen to fit and kittens on the way is stressful.

We are hoping to be able to finish the kitchen by the time the kittens arrive in the beginning of May.

Then we could concentrate on getting the last few bits sorted for the wedding so we can just relax and enjoy the last few weeks before the big day.

It's getting very close now.

Sometimes you need a night off

Yesterday James worked in the office in the morning, and then came home to continue working on the kitchen.

By early evening I just looked at him and went:

- Right, you are now banned from the kitchen. Let's go to the pub!

And so we did, James' first kitchen-free night in ages. We also realised that last time we went out for an evening meal was when we got engaged.

Cheers to that!

Friday

Friday - again! The weeks are passing by in a blur of kitchens and weddings.

This week we have spent most evenings laying the floor in the kitchen. Last night we put in the last bit.

It looks amazing, this will be a bloody good kitchen!

Happy Friday!

My tired man

Ah bless James! He is working so hard in the kitchen, all his spare time is taken up by - work!

On top of that he has a wedding to worry about!

I do what I can to help him, but unfortunately I am not that competent when it comes to fitting a kitchen.

My tired man

After the kitchen and the wedding we will need a nice long holiday to get back to normal!
